Sigulda

Already more than a century Sigulda has been called the “Switzerland of Vidzeme”. It is one of the most picturesque places of Latvia. It is one of the most popular vacation spots for inhabitants of Riga. Every year Sigulda is visited by thousands of tourists. The city is in the place which has been richly allocated with natural beauty, a high biological diversity and cultural and historical objects. The combination of the most beautiful nature together with ruins of medieval castles makes this place magical. What is fascinating, this place can be visited again and again. For example, ruins of the Livonian Order Castle, the New Castle of Sigulda — one of the remarkable examples of Neo-Gothic style, the only Cable car in Baltic States, which connects both bank of the River Gauja, Gutman’s Cave, Turaida Medieval Castle, one of the oldest wooden Churches in Latvia, Hills of Dainas and the Bobsleigh, luge and skeleton track.
